The Employment Specialist serves as the organization’s primary recruitment and employment operations professional, responsible for attracting, hiring, and onboarding qualified staff to support KYUMH’s mission-driven programs. Drawing from best practices used by external employers and staffing organizations, this role functions as a full-cycle recruiter while also providing broad support across employment-related activities.
In addition to managing recruitment, the Employment Specialist supports workforce planning, onboarding, employment data tracking, and other HR operational needs. This position requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple employment-related processes simultaneously in a multi-site environment.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions, including job posting, sourcing, screening, interviewing coordination, and offer support.
- Develop and maintain job postings that align with both internal needs and external labor market expectations.
- Utilize applicant tracking systems, job boards, and community partnerships to build qualified candidate pipelines.
- Coordinate interviews with hiring managers and ensure a professional, consistent candidate experience.
- Track recruitment activity, time-to-fill, and hiring outcomes; provide regular updates to HR leadership.
- Coordinate pre-employment processes including background checks, reference checks, and onboarding documentation.
- Facilitate smooth onboarding transitions by partnering with payroll, IT, training, and program leadership.
- Support new employee orientation scheduling and initial employment communications.
- Assist with employment-related documentation, personnel file maintenance, and compliance tracking.
- Support employment changes such as transfers, promotions, status changes, and separations.
- Provide backup or overflow support for other HR employment activities as assigned.
- Participate in continuous improvement of recruitment and employment processes using external best practices.
- Represent KYUMH at job fairs, career events, and community outreach activities.
- Support employer branding efforts by promoting KYUMH as an employer of choice in the nonprofit and human services sector.
- Build relationships with colleges, training programs, and workforce partners to support ongoing recruitment needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in recruitment, staffing, or human resources.
- Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health, or human services environments preferred.
